FAQ’s

How much lead time do I need to make a reservation?

Advance reservations are taken daily from 7:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. At least one day’s notice is required for advance reservations and must be submitted by 12:00 noon for a next day's trip. Space is limited and not guaranteed. Itineraries are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis so please book your reservation as far in advance as possible.

What time will I be picked up?

Once travel has been awarded, a pickup time may be given at that time or by call back. Once the time has been established, there is a thirty-minute window on each side of that time that you should be ready. Example: If your pickup time is at 9:00, then you may be picked up anytime between 8:30 and 9:30. The driver will wait at the scheduled pickup point for 5 minutes. Passengers should make sure they are ready and waiting for the scheduled pickup.

Will the Coaches pick me up at my residence?

Yes. In most cases, the Coaches will pick you up at your residence or any pre-determined address. This is true as long as you:

  • Live in an urban area traveling to a rural destination.
  • Live in a rural area traveling to another rural area.
  • Live in a rural area traveling to an urban destination. There is no service for urban to urban travel. The Coaches will also return you to your residence or pre-determined drop-off location.

How do I know if I live in a rural or urban area?

Rural and Urban areas are determined by census information. Our dispatchers have maps that designate whether an address is rural or urban. When you call in, the dispatcher will be able to help you.

Is there a way to travel from one urban area to another urban area?

By rule, the Coastal Regional Coaches cannot provide transportation from one urban area to another urban area. However, a potential traveler may find an address nearby that is considered rural and be picked up and returned to that location. Example: Many people from Hinesville (urban) need transportation to Savannah (also urban). The Applebee’s restaurant in Hinesville has an address that is designated rural so if passengers can get to that location, they can be picked up and returned there.

Do I have to return on the same day?

No. You may schedule a one-way trip and if needed, schedule a return trip for a different day.

Can the Coaches accommodate passengers in wheelchairs?

Yes. The Coastal Regional Coaches are fully equipped for handicapped and wheelchair passengers. Our drivers are trained to assist.

Are there any Coaches that travel outside of the ten-county coastal region?

No. Passenger transport is limited to the ten counties under the jurisdiction of the Coastal Regional Commission.

Do the Coaches have seat belts?

Yes. All Coaches’ seats are equipped with seat belts and because safety is our top priority, they must be used at all times.

What is the policy on children passengers?

Minors aged 14-18 may ride without a parent or guardian but must have a signed parental waiver. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Child car seats are also required for children who need them. The parent or guardian is responsible for providing and correctly installing the seat prior to departure. Children are also responsible for full fares.
